After completing a series of mini-shoots last month, one of the families asked if I shot fly-ins (which are a huge deal of awesomeness)!!!! Turns out, the CO’s wife of this families command had been looking for someone to shoot the event, not only for the squadron, but for her and her husband as well. This particular homecoming was extra-special for them, as they are expecting their first child — soon. When her husband left, she was literally just pregnant — no belly! So, this was his first time seeing her baby belly (by the way, his wife looks totally amazing)!!! Anyhoo … here’s a couple shots of the group patiently awaiting the arrival of their pilots:

Jets were right on time — you could hear the sound no matter where you were on base — a tight formation of 10 — and, in my opinion, it was the BEST formation there was all day — so tight, together, and just beautiful against the blue sky! The roar of the jets brought silence at first … I waited for it … the screams, the laughs, and the tears began to overwhelm everyone there! It was just amazing — words really cannot even begin to describe!!!!!

So, anyway … I really LOVE JETS … and JET NOISE! I was soooo stoked that I got to be out there on the flight line as they came in — such a rad place to be! :) I grabbed a few shots of the jets flying towards us (above) … then ducked down and turned around to get a few shots from underneath. Heres’ my fave — I just had to give it some old skool flare:

And for the rest, well … I will let the pictures tell their story … Here Come the Men in Green!!!!!

The shots below are of the couple I mentioned above — enter daddy-to-be. The moment his wife stepped out from behind those she had been hiding behind, his face lit up like the 4th of July! After that … I don’t think his eyes left her belly! He was so shocked … so happy … sooo … well, words cannot describe that either! It made me want to cry! It truly was an amazing moment to be a part of, and I am so very glad that I had the chance!
Ahh, and that is only one fly-in — I have another to post as well. :) Till next time!
On a final note … I want to give a big heartfelt THANK YOU to these guys and gals and families for doing what they do!!! If it weren’t for them, there would be no freedom! Thank You Blue Diamonds, and Welcome Home!!!
Peace & Love …
Jaime Hough
